CBS has canceled Don Imus' radio show. Good.
The problem that Imus, Howard Stern, Rush Kimbaugh and other proefessional mouths have is that they are basically paid to act like assholes. They have legions of dittoheaded fans who like them the more outrageous the better, so what do you think is going to eventually happen? They get the idea that every bit of crap they spew out of their mouth is gems and roses until finally they go too far. We have a saying at our house: "Power makes you stupid." Politics and business have given us many, many examples (and look at Paul Wolfowitz today as an example), and the "personalities" have had unlimited power to blurt out whatever amuses them with no thought for anyone else's feelings and reputations. One of the Rutgers players got it right: they should have been free to enjoy their accomplishment, instead of having their glory tarnished with slime by Imus and his henchmen.
