Time Event
Phishing season open?
What in the world? Did someone just unleash a new class of script kiddies on to the net, or what? After month of comparative quiet, my inbox lately has been getting batches of "phishing" scam e-mails claiming to be from e-Bay, PayPal, Bank of America, and several outfits I don't even do business with. Also there's been several different versions of the "Claim your winnings" hoax. None of these are new or clever, just the same old ones that have ben around for years, but I can't figure out why there's been such a rash of them in the last week. Maybe it's because schools *have* started for the fall term and there's a fresh new crop of sophomores out there with just enough knowlege to be dangerous? I get a little bit of pleasure out of forwarding these to the appropriate security mailboxes so they can be shut down--.
