SF&F Rules the Movies!

An article, "The Ten Most-Anticipated Movies of 2008" just popped up on Yahoo--it's mainly actually summer movies, but it's interesting that eight out of ten are science-fiction, fantasy, or comics related. The list is:

"Iron Man", another Marvel Comics hero making his way to the screen.

"Speed Racer," live action version of the long-lived anime.

"The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian," Narnia #2.

"Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," #4 in the series.

"Sex and the City," continuing the HBO TV show.

"The Incredible Hulk," sequel to 2003's "The Hulk," don't know why they are making a sequel to what is generally regarded as the poorest of the recent Marvel movie adaptations, but the first one must have made enough money--.

"WALL-E", new Pixar film about a cute robot in the future.

"Wanted," adaptation of an indy comics series set in a world where the bad guys won. Could be very dark and blackly humorous if it follows the comic.

"The Dark Knight," second in the new Batman movies, Batman fights the Joker.

"Tropic Thunder," Ben Stiller comedy about actors shooting a war movie who end up in the middle of a real war.

I don't expect to bother with "Sex and the City," "Tropic Thunder," or "Hulk 2" and I'm not sure about "WALL-E" until I know more about it, but it looks like I'll be spending a lot of time at the movie house this summer.
